Statistical Advisor, How To Design and Analyze Gage Repeatability & Reproducibility

Use PROCESS ANALYSIS. This statistical procedures includes facilities to design and analyze gage repeatability & reproducibility studies.

Gage repeatability refers to the extent to which repeated measurements of the same part by the same operator (of the gage) produce identical results. Gage reproducibility refers to the extent to which different operators measuring the same parts with the same gage produce identical measurement.

Gage repeatability and reproducibility can be expressed in terms of variability (across measurements or operators, respectively). The size of that variability relative to the variability between parts, and the required precision necessary to detect quality problems, determines the reliability, and thus usefulness of the measurement procedures used in the quality control effort.
