Statistical Advisor, How to Calculate Statistics by Groups, Samples, Variables

Use one of the following:

BASIC STATISTICS: This chapter describes how to 'break down' means (and standard deviations) by one or more grouping variables (see, Breakdown: Descriptive statistics by groups). For example, you could compute a breakdown table of means of a variable Income by gender (male, female), within gender by occupation, and within gender and occupation by ethnic background. You can also compute box plots, and report various statistics broken down by another variable.

GRAPHICAL ANALYTIC TECHNIQUES: Graphical analytic techniques include a wide range of descriptive graphics (e.g., histograms, line graphs) that can be computed by groups (categorized plots).
