A leading German computer journal Computerwoche has published a comprehensive review of data mining tools, which in addition to STATISTICA Data Miner 9, discussed also a large number of commercial and public domain/open source data mining applications: SAS Enterprise Miner 6.1, SPSS PASW Modeler 13 (formerly Clementine), Oracle Data Mining 11g, SAP Netweaver Data Mining Workbench 7, Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services, KXEN 5.1, and Weka 3.6, and included detailed, comparative ratings (based on performance tests) of STATISTICA Data Miner, SAS Enterprise Miner, SAP Netweaver, KNIME and KXEN. STATISTICA Data Miner tied with SAS Enterprise Miner as the winners of this "Data Mining Study 2010" (conducted for Computerwoche by Mayato, a consulting firm in the area of decision support, prediction and analysis) outscoring the other products by providing impressive breadth of functions, speed of performance and reliable handling of large amounts of data. Mr. Neckel, an analyst with Mayato, stated that compared to the other reviewed tools, the “options of graphical analysis and exploration of association rules [in STATISTICA] are in a class of it’s own.” Neckel also commented on the Data Miner wizard (the "Data Miner Recipes") included in STATISTICA as a way to “meet the needs of occasional users by offering an assistant that specifies a fixed order of analysis steps and requests the necessary input in a systematic way.” The full review (in German) can be read at the Computerwoche website.
