StatSoft hosted an event in Hillsboro, OR, to highlight solutions for complex manufacturing using the STATISTICA Enterprise analytics platform. Scott Zellmer from Z Consulting and StatSoft’s Dev Kannabiran delivered well-received talks about the advantages of configurable manufacturing Dashboards and multivariate analytics for reducing manufacturing costs and improving product quality. Tulsa, OK – August 2, 2011 - StatSoft hosted an event in Hillsboro, Oregon, including talks that highlighted the opportunities in complex manufacturing for applying analytics using the STATISTICA Enterprise analytics platform. Talks at the event focused on opportunities for reducing scrap and rework, optimizing processes, and improving product quality through the application of configurable manufacturing Dashboards and multivariate analytics. Scott Zellmer, president of Z-Consulting, shared his experiences from past projects applying the STATISTICA Enterprise platform in electronics and medical device manufacturing. Mr. Zellmer is a consulting partner with StatSoft, providing expertise in Statistical Process Control, Reliability Engineering, and Design of Experiments (DoE). Dev Kannabaran, a Consultant with StatSoft, focused his talk on the advantages of multivariate analysis for statistical process control, in which a model of the relevant parameters in a manufacturing process is used to monitor it holistically with great sensitivity to changes that will impact product quality. Mr. Kannabaran, in his role at StatSoft, collaborates with companies in a variety of industries, including Pharmaceutical, Semiconductor, Medical Devices, Electronics, and other industries, to design and configure STATISTICA analytics solutions for root cause analysis, process optimization, process monitoring, and manufacturing dashboards. The sessions at the StatSoft-hosted event focused on solutions configured using the STATISTICA Enterprise software platform: The Enterprise line of STATISTICA products is designed for multi-user, collaborative analytic applications and can be used for manufacturing applications where engineers and analysts perform data analysis on shared data sets or where they can benefit from tools for collaborative work such as statistical process control (SPC), quality control (QC), and multivariate analyses (MVA).
The STATISTICA Monitoring and Alerting Server (MAS) augments STATISTICA Enterprise to provide users with a means to centralize and automate the monitoring of many process and product parameters. The ongoing monitoring is an automated and efficient method for a) monitoring many critical parameters simultaneously, and b) providing status "snapshots" from the results of these monitoring activities to personnel based on their responsibilities. With a complex manufacturing process or a product suite with many critical quality characteristics, often it is not possible to review the latest samples or batches manually for each characteristic. Instead, personnel need an easy and efficient way to be updated on the latest status on those critical parameters. MAS provides the definition of dashboard summary user interfaces that provide a snapshot of the status of many parameters in a single user interface. Dashboards are associated with User/Group permissions in STATISTICA Enterprise, so particular Users or Groups have access to the Dashboard that fits their respective responsibilities.
