Data Mining Methods and Techniques for Monitoring and Optimizing Complex (Continuous) Processes, Presented by Dr. Tom Hill
Dr. Thomas Hill, VP for Analytic Solutions at StatSoft and StatSoft Power Solutions delivered an invited presentation entitled Data Mining Methods and Techniques for Monitoring and Optimizing Complex (Continuous) Processes at MITRE Corporation’s Center for Advanced Aviation System Development (MITRE/CAASD). Dr. Hill was one of 8 external (non-government affiliated) data mining experts attending the two-day symposium in McLean, VA, on July 28 and 29, 2009. MITRE/CAASD is a federally funded research and development center sponsored by the FAA, supporting the FAA and other civil aviation authorities. Specifically, MITRE/CAASD carries out highly technical engineering and operational analyses, system development, and system specification activities to help the FAA and other civil aviation authorities and stakeholders worldwide to plan, develop, acquire, and implement modernized air traffic management systems and procedures. The purpose of the symposium was to bring together data analysis/mining experts and aviation safety experts and stakeholders from various government agencies including the FAA and NASA, to discuss state-of-the-art data mining approaches and techniques applicable to the unique and diverse data sources relevant to aviation safety.
