I greatly enjoy searching with Google Scholar. I always learn something new. And I can see how academia is using STATISTICA.
Is it acceptable for a psychiatrist to break confidentiality to prevent spousal violence?, caught my eye. It was published in Mar-April 2009 in the International Journal of Law and Psychiatry.
The complete text on this study of French attitudes toward breaking doctor/patient confidentiality is also available.
186 people living in Toulouse, France were asked questions about hypothetical scenarios. All of the scenarios involved a man being treated by a psychiatrist. The man tells the doctor he will hurt his wife. The psychiatrist calls and warns the wife about the threat. Each scenario had several factors that varied; level of violence, mental illness diagnosed, patient rejecting treatment, etc... The 186 people were asked if this break in confidentiality was acceptable.
The study found
For example, people thought it was acceptable to warn the spouse if mental illness was involved.
The study used the STATISTICA application for statistical analysis. The authors used it for ANOVA and data visualization.
What caught my eye..... the authors are using STATISTICA 5. This release is at least 10 years old. Our current release is STATISTICA 9.
StatSoft has greatly improved STATISTICA over the years. 32-bit and 64-bit versions are now available. Here is some documentation on improvements for the last 3 releases.
STATISTICA 7 features STATISTICA 8 features STATISTICA 9 features
If anyone in academia is thinking about upgrading their STATISTICA release, please request a quote.
There is a different STATISTICA upgrade offer for individuals, businesses and government. If you are interested, request more information.
